Thailand has taken another significant step toward greater international tax transparency by signing the Multilateral Competent Authority Agreement on the Exchange of GloBE Information (GloBE MCAA).

The agreement supports the international exchange of tax information relating to large multinational enterprise groups under the Global Anti-Base Erosion framework.

According to Thailand’s Revenue Department, the Cabinet approved Thailand’s participation in the GloBE MCAA on 16 June 2026, and Thailand was subsequently officially listed by the OECD as a signatory on 8 September 2026.

For multinational groups operating in Thailand, this development is particularly important because it forms part of Thailand’s preparation for the international exchange of the GloBE Information Return (GIR).

What Is the GloBE MCAA?

The GloBE MCAA is a multilateral arrangement designed to enable participating tax authorities to exchange information contained in GloBE Information Returns.

The objective is to support international tax administration while reducing unnecessary duplication for multinational groups operating across several jurisdictions.

Rather than requiring the same set of information to be separately submitted to multiple participating jurisdictions, an information-exchange mechanism can allow relevant tax authorities to receive the required information through agreed international channels.

Thailand’s Revenue Department stated that this mechanism is intended to help reduce compliance burdens for large multinational groups while improving transparency and confidence in Thailand’s tax system.

Why Thailand’s Participation Matters

Thailand’s participation reflects the country’s continued integration into international tax cooperation frameworks.

For multinational companies, this means that international tax reporting can no longer be viewed solely as a matter for the head office or parent company.

Thai subsidiaries, branches and related entities within multinational groups should increasingly ensure that their accounting information, tax records and intercompany documentation are consistent with information reported elsewhere within the group.

Key areas that may require attention include:

Consistency of financial and tax information across jurisdictions

Identification of group entities and reporting responsibilities

Reconciliation between statutory accounts and group reporting packages

Documentation of related-party transactions

Internal coordination between finance, tax and accounting teams

Readiness to respond to information requests from tax authorities

GloBE Information Return and Thailand

A key part of the new framework is the GloBE Information Return, or GIR.

The Revenue Department confirmed that Thailand is preparing to exchange GIR information with treaty partners and expects its first exchange to take place by December 2027.

Businesses therefore have time to prepare, but multinational groups should not wait until the first exchange deadline before reviewing their internal systems.

Information used for international tax reporting often originates from accounting records created months or years earlier. Errors in entity classification, accounting treatment or intercompany transactions may become difficult to correct later.

What Multinational Companies in Thailand Should Do

Companies that form part of multinational groups should consider conducting an early review of their Thailand operations.

The review should include the company’s accounting system, corporate income tax records, financial statements and supporting documentation.

Management should also determine which company within the group is responsible for preparing the GloBE Information Return and how information from Thailand will be supplied to that company.

Where a Thai company receives instructions or reporting templates from an overseas parent company, the local accounting team should understand how those figures reconcile with the company’s Thai statutory accounts.

Accounting Records Will Become Increasingly Important

International tax transparency ultimately depends on the quality of underlying accounting information.

For companies in Thailand, accurate bookkeeping therefore remains fundamental.

Proper accounting records support not only annual financial statements and Thai tax filings, but also group-level reporting, tax reconciliations and cross-border information exchange.

Businesses should maintain complete documentation for material transactions and ensure that accounting records can be reconciled with tax filings and audited financial statements.

Preparing Before 2027

Thailand’s planned first exchange of GIR information by December 2027 provides multinational groups with an opportunity to prepare in advance.

Companies may consider reviewing the following areas:

Accounting Records

Check whether transactions are properly recorded, classified and supported by appropriate documentation.

Tax Compliance

Review whether corporate income tax, withholding tax and VAT records reconcile with the accounting system.

Group Reporting

Ensure that figures reported from Thailand are consistent with information submitted to overseas headquarters.

Intercompany Transactions

Review whether transactions with related companies are properly documented.

Internal Responsibility

Identify which person or department will coordinate GloBE-related information in Thailand.

Early preparation can reduce the risk of inconsistencies when information begins to be exchanged internationally.

Professional Accounting and Tax Support in Thailand

International businesses often need local accounting records to meet both Thai statutory requirements and group-level reporting requirements.

Bookkeeping Co., Ltd. provides accounting, tax compliance, payroll and tax advisory support for companies operating in Thailand.

For multinational companies, proper coordination between local accounting records and international reporting requirements can become increasingly important as Thailand moves toward GloBE information exchange.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the GloBE MCAA?

The GloBE MCAA is a multilateral agreement that facilitates the exchange of GloBE Information Return information between participating tax authorities.

Has Thailand signed the GloBE MCAA?

Yes. Thailand’s Revenue Department announced that Thailand had signed the agreement and that the OECD officially listed Thailand as a signatory on 8 September 2026.

When will Thailand begin exchanging GloBE Information Returns?

Thailand’s Revenue Department stated that Thailand plans its first exchange with relevant partner jurisdictions by December 2027.

Should multinational companies prepare now?

Yes. Multinational groups should consider reviewing accounting, tax and group-reporting processes well before information exchange begins.

Need Accounting and Tax Support in Thailand?

If your company operates in Thailand as part of a multinational group, proper accounting, tax compliance and group reporting coordination are increasingly important.

Thailand Social Enterprise Tax Incentives could expand under proposed measures that support Social Enterprises (SEs) and encourage greater participation by companies, individual taxpayers, donors and investors.

On 21 July 2026, the Thai Cabinet approved in principle a draft Royal Decree to amend and improve existing tax incentives for Social Enterprises.

The proposed measures aim to provide broader and more continuous support for Social Enterprises, recognising their role in addressing social challenges and contributing to Thailand’s progress toward the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

What is a Social Enterprise?

A Social Enterprise is generally a business that conducts commercial activities while pursuing social, community or environmental objectives.

Thailand has introduced tax incentives to encourage individuals, companies and investors to support qualifying Social Enterprises and the Social Enterprise Promotion Fund.

The latest proposal seeks to expand those incentives further.

5 Key Proposed Tax Measures for Social Enterprises in Thailand

1. Companies supporting Social Enterprises may claim a one-times expense deduction without an expiry date

Under the previous measure, a company or juristic partnership providing money or property to support a Social Enterprise could claim a tax expense deduction equal to one times the qualifying amount, with the incentive previously scheduled to expire on 31 December 2023.

Under the proposed amendment, the government would extend this incentive without a specified expiry date.

This may provide greater certainty for businesses wishing to support Social Enterprises as part of their long-term social, CSR or ESG initiatives, subject to applicable tax requirements.

2. Individual taxpayers may claim a one-times tax deduction

The proposed measures introduce an additional incentive for individual taxpayers who provide financial support to qualifying Social Enterprises.

Eligible financial contributions would be deductible at one times the qualifying amount, with no specified expiry date.

The actual availability and amount of any tax deduction remain subject to the conditions and limitations prescribed by Thai tax law.

3. Double tax deduction for donations to the Social Enterprise Promotion Fund

One of the most significant proposed incentives concerns donations of money or property to the Social Enterprise Promotion Fund.

The deduction would increase from one times to two times the qualifying donation.

The enhanced incentive would apply to qualifying donations made between:

1 January 2024 and 31 December 2028.

Taxpayers must nevertheless comply with all applicable statutory requirements and conditions.

e-Donation Requirement

The proposed measures require taxpayers to make qualifying support and donations through the Thai Revenue Department’s electronic donation system (e-Donation).

Companies and individuals intending to claim these tax benefits should therefore confirm that the relevant recipient, Social Enterprise or fund qualifies under the Revenue Department’s requirements and ensure that the transaction appears correctly in the e-Donation system.

4. Extension of tax exemptions for transfers and donations of property

The draft measure also proposes extending tax exemptions for individuals, companies and juristic partnerships that transfer property to qualifying Social Enterprises or donate property to the Social Enterprise Promotion Fund through the e-Donation system.

The proposed exemptions cover several types of Thai taxation, including:

Personal Income Tax

Corporate Income Tax

Value Added Tax (VAT)

Specific Business Tax

Stamp Duty

These exemptions previously applied until 31 December 2023. The proposal would extend them without a specified expiry date.

5. More flexible registration for Social Enterprise tax incentives

The proposed amendment also seeks to relax the registration requirements applicable to Social Enterprises wishing to obtain tax incentives.

A Social Enterprise that misses the original statutory notification deadline may still register later.

However, if a Social Enterprise registers after the prescribed deadline, its tax incentives and those available to its supporters would generally commence from the accounting period or tax year following the period or year in which it submits the notification.

Investors may only need to hold their investment for 10 years

The Revenue Department has also indicated that, once the new Royal Decree comes into force, it expects to amend Revenue Department Director-General Notification No. 38.

The proposed change relates to tax deductions for investments in shares or partnership interests made for the establishment or capital increase of a Social Enterprise.

Under the proposed rule, an investor would need to retain the relevant shares or partnership interest for at least 10 years from the investment date.

This would replace the existing rule requiring investors to retain the investment indefinitely.

According to the Revenue Department announcement, the revised rule should also cover earlier investments that predate the new Royal Decree.

Who should monitor these changes?

The proposed measures are particularly relevant to several groups.

Social Enterprises

Social Enterprises should review their registration status, tax-incentive notification requirements and ability to participate in the Revenue Department’s e-Donation system.

Thai Companies and Juristic Partnerships

Businesses undertaking CSR, ESG or other social-support programmes should assess whether qualifying contributions could benefit from available tax deductions.

Individual Taxpayers

Individuals financially supporting qualifying Social Enterprises may become entitled to additional personal income tax deductions, subject to statutory conditions.

Investors

The proposed 10-year holding requirement may provide greater flexibility for investors considering investments in Social Enterprises.

Important: Cabinet Approval in Principle Does Not Yet Make the Measures Fully Effective Law

The Revenue Department’s announcement dated 21 July 2026 states that the Cabinet approved in principle a draft Royal Decree.

Accordingly, taxpayers should not assume that they can immediately apply every proposed measure to a tax return or transaction without first checking the final legislation and its effective date.

Before claiming a tax incentive, taxpayers should verify, among other matters:

whether the new Royal Decree has entered into force;

the applicable effective date;

whether both the contributor and recipient satisfy the prescribed conditions;

whether the transaction appears correctly in the e-Donation system;

whether any statutory deduction limits or other tax conditions apply.

Conclusion

Overall, the proposed Thailand Social Enterprise Tax Incentives could provide broader tax benefits for companies, individuals, donors and investors supporting qualifying Social Enterprises. Thailand’s proposed Social Enterprise tax measures represent a significant expansion of tax incentives available to businesses, individuals, donors and investors supporting socially responsible enterprises.

Key proposals include continuing one-times deductions for corporate supporters, introducing deductions for individual supporters, providing double deductions for qualifying donations to the Social Enterprise Promotion Fund, extending certain tax exemptions and relaxing investment and registration requirements.

Businesses and taxpayers intending to rely on these incentives should continue to monitor the final Royal Decree, Revenue Department notifications and related implementation rules before claiming the relevant tax benefits.

(Ad Revenue)

Affiliate

Complete Guide for Tour Operators, Hotel Booking Agents and BSP Agents (2026 Update)

Introduction: Why Travel Business Taxation Is More Complex Than Other Industries

The travel industry is not simply about “selling services.” It involves acting as an intermediary, collecting money on behalf of others, passing payments through, calculating commissions, splitting revenue, and in many cases operating purely as an agent rather than the principal service provider.

This creates complex tax questions that do not arise in ordinary businesses.

Key tax questions include:

Is VAT calculated on the full selling price or only on commission?

When must 7% VAT be applied?

Is 3% withholding tax required?

Are cancellation fees considered income or damages?

How should tour packages be structured for tax compliance?

This guide explains VAT and withholding tax treatment for travel businesses in Thailand in detail, with practical examples and real calculations.

Part 1: VAT (Value Added Tax) in the Travel Industry

1. General VAT Rule in Thailand

Under Section 77/2 of the Thai Revenue Code, any service rendered in Thailand is subject to 7% VAT.

The critical question in travel businesses is:

Who is the actual service provider, and whose revenue is being taxed?

In many cases, the travel company is merely an agent. In other cases, it acts as the principal. This distinction determines the VAT base.

Part 2: Hotel Booking Agents

2.1 Net Rate Model

Example:

Room price charged to customer: 100 THB

Hotel charges agent: 95 THB

Agent sells to customer: 100 THB

Difference: 5 THB (commission)

Tax Analysis

The hotel issues a tax invoice for 95 THB + VAT.

The agent’s income is 5 THB (commission).

The agent must charge 7% VAT on the 5 THB commission.

If the agent is a Thai juristic entity, the hotel must withhold 3% withholding tax on the commission payment.

VAT is calculated only on the commission amount, not the full room price.

2.2 Commission Percentage Model

Example:

Hotel sells room for 100 THB.

Commission agreed at 5%.

Tax Treatment

Hotel issues VAT invoice for full 100 THB.

Hotel pays 5 THB commission to agent.

Hotel must withhold 3% withholding tax on 5 THB.

Agent must charge 7% VAT on the 5 THB commission.

The commission is considered a service fee subject to VAT and withholding tax.

2.3 Agent Collects Payment Directly

Example:

Agent collects 100 THB from customer.

Agent pays 97 THB to hotel.

Commission: 3 THB.

VAT is calculated only on the 3 THB commission.

However, documentation must clearly support the agent structure. Otherwise, the Revenue Department may treat the agent as principal and assess VAT on the full 100 THB.

Part 3: Tour Operators in Thailand

Tour operators are subject to VAT regardless of whether the tour is domestic or international, because the service is organized and managed within Thailand.

3.1 Outbound Tours

Even if tourists travel abroad, the organization, marketing, and contract formation occur in Thailand.

Therefore:

The service is considered rendered in Thailand.

7% VAT applies.

3.2 Inbound Tours

Services provided to foreign tourists visiting Thailand are also subject to 7% VAT.

There is no automatic VAT exemption simply because customers are foreigners.

3.3 Package Tour (All-Inclusive)

Example:

Package price: 30,000 THB including:

Air tickets

Hotel accommodation

Transfers

Meals

Tax Treatment

VAT must be calculated on the full 30,000 THB.

If the customer is a company:

3% withholding tax applies.

This is because the tour operator is treated as the principal selling a bundled service.

3.4 Cost Plus Model

Example:

Service fee: 5,000 THB

Hotel and airfare charged at actual cost

If the contract clearly separates:

Management fee (5,000 THB)

Reimbursable expenses (at cost)

Then:

VAT applies only to 5,000 THB.

Reimbursed expenses are excluded from VAT base.

Important: Documentation must clearly show agency structure and reimbursement arrangement. Otherwise, the Revenue Department may treat the entire amount as taxable revenue.

Part 4: BSP Agents (Airline Ticket Agents)

4.1 Commission from Airlines

When BSP agents receive commission from airlines:

7% VAT applies to commission.

Airlines must withhold 3% withholding tax.

Agent must issue tax invoice to airline.

4.2 Sub-Agents

If a sub-agent provides ticketing services directly to customers:

VAT applies to the sub-agent’s service fee.

Withholding tax applies if paid by a juristic person.

4.3 Ticket Cancellation Fees

If a cancellation fee represents genuine damages:

It is not subject to VAT.

No withholding tax applies.

However, if the cancellation fee is shared as commission:

The commission portion is subject to 7% VAT.

3% withholding tax applies.

Part 5: Summary of Common Tax Rates

Item

VAT

Withholding Tax

Commission

7%

3%

Package Tour

7%

3%

Cost Plus (service fee only)

7%

3%

True damages

Not applicable

Not applicable

Part 6: Common Tax Risks in Travel Businesses

Many travel companies face tax assessments due to:

Charging VAT on incorrect base

Failing to distinguish agent vs principal

Not withholding 3% when required

Poor documentation for Cost Plus structure

Mixing commission and reimbursement revenue

The Revenue Department frequently audits travel agencies due to the complexity of revenue flows.

Part 7: Foreign-Owned Travel Businesses in Thailand

If your company involves:

Foreign shareholders

BOI promotion

Foreign Business License (FBL)

Cross-border payments

Additional tax considerations apply:

VAT reverse charge on imported services

Permanent establishment risk

Transfer pricing rules

Withholding tax on overseas payments

Double tax treaty analysis

Foreign-owned travel companies require careful structuring to avoid unnecessary VAT exposure or tax reassessment.

Final Conclusion

The travel industry in Thailand involves multi-layered tax implications that go beyond ordinary service businesses.

Incorrect structuring can result in:

Overpayment of VAT

Under-withholding penalties

Tax reassessments

Administrative fines

Proper classification between agent and principal, clear contractual terms, and accurate VAT base calculation are essential for compliance.

If you operate a travel agency, tour operator, hotel booking platform, or BSP agent in Thailand, professional tax structuring is strongly recommended to avoid future tax risks.

(Invoice)

(Journal Entry)

(Owner’s Capital) 50,000

(General Ledger)

(Assets)

✘

(Expenses)

✘

✘

(Liabilities)

✘

(Owner’s Capital)

✘

(Revenues)

✘

e-Donation Thailand 2026: How eDonation Helps You Reduce Tax

Thailand will implement a new tax incentive on 1 January 2026 to promote transparent and fully digital charitable giving. Through the upgraded e-Donation (eDonation) system, donors gain faster verification, clearer records, and a more efficient tax-deduction process.

What Is e-Donation (eDonation)?

The e-Donation system links banks, government agencies, and the Thai Revenue Department. When you donate through an approved channel, the system instantly records the transaction and sends the information directly to the Revenue Department.

Consequently, you no longer need to keep paper receipts or upload supporting documents. The digital system stores your information securely and prepares it for tax deductions automatically.

Tax Benefits of Using eDonation

Under the 2026 policy, only donations made through the official e-Donation platform qualify for tax deductions. Both individuals and companies benefit from clearer records and streamlined tax filing.

For Individual Taxpayers

You can claim donations as deductible expenses according to Revenue Department regulations.

You avoid collecting physical receipts because the system stores them automatically.

You may review your donation records anytime through the Revenue Department’s online services.

For Companies

Your business can classify qualifying donations as deductible expenses under Thai tax law.

Digital documentation reduces the risk of missing or incomplete evidence during audits.

Your CSR and ESG reporting becomes more reliable and easier to verify.

To improve your tax planning, you may also explore our guide on SME tax in Thailand.

Key Advantages of eDonation

The eDonation system delivers several practical improvements. Moreover, it enhances both transparency and operational efficiency for donors and charitable units.

Real-time verification — The platform records and confirms your transaction immediately.

No paper receipts — You rely entirely on secure digital records instead of physical documents.

Greater transparency — Because every donation is logged digitally, you gain confidence in how your contribution is recorded.

Reduced administrative work — Donation units no longer need to issue manual receipts.

Who Can Use eDonation?

Individuals, companies, and approved donation units can all use the system. In addition, the platform supports contributions to education, healthcare, social welfare, temples, public foundations, and many other public-benefit categories.

How to Check Approved eDonation Units

Before donating, you should confirm whether the organization participates in the eDonation program. This step ensures that your contribution qualifies for a tax deduction.

Visit the Revenue Department website (www.rd.go.th).

Go to Legal Entity → Donation Units → Verify Data.

Search for the organization by name or registration number.

Existing donation units that already use eDonation may continue without re-registering under the new incentive.

How to Make an eDonation

You can donate digitally through several convenient channels. Furthermore, most Thai banks already integrate directly with the Revenue Department.

Mobile banking applications

Bank branches

QR codes labeled “e-Donation”

ATMs with eDonation options

After you complete the transaction, the bank forwards your donation details to the Revenue Department. Therefore, you do not need to prepare or submit additional documents.

eDonation and Thailand’s Digital Government Initiative

The eDonation platform plays a significant role in Thailand’s Digital Government strategy. It strengthens coordination among banks, public agencies, and the Revenue Department. Moreover, it reduces compliance costs and supports fair, transparent tax administration.

Using eDonation in Your Business Strategy

If you manage a startup or expanding company, you can include charitable donations in your tax planning strategy. Furthermore, clean digital records help streamline audits and improve financial reporting.

Corporate Compliance and Donation Accuracy

Before making corporate donations, businesses should ensure that their shareholder and director information is accurate and updated with the Department of Business Development (DBD). With proper records in place, your accounting and tax filings become more consistent and compliant.

Assets = Liabilities + Equity

Assets = Liabilities + Owner’s Capital − Owner’s Withdrawals + Revenues − Expenses

(Return on Assets)

ROA = Net Income ÷ Average Total Assets

Startup Tax Incentive in Thailand: A Practical Guide for Founders

For many founders, tax is the last thing they want to think about. But using the right startup tax incentives can dramatically reduce costs in the first few years and free up cash for growth. This guide explains the key incentives available in Thailand and how to use them in practice.

If you want a professional team to handle your books and tax planning from day one, you can work with specialists in startup accounting and tax compliance in Thailand .

1. What Is a Startup Tax Incentive?

A startup tax incentive is a government measure that reduces or exempts certain taxes for new, innovative, or technology-driven businesses. The goal is simple: help startups lower their tax burden in the early stage so they can reinvest more money into product, people, and growth instead of paying tax too early.

2. Main Types of Tax Incentives for Startups

2.1 Corporate Income Tax Exemption (BOI)

Technology and innovation-based businesses may qualify for tax holidays under the Board of Investment (BOI). Depending on the activity, a startup may receive:

Corporate income tax exemption for 3–8 years

Exemption or reduction of import duties on machinery and equipment

Non-tax incentives such as work permits and visa support for foreign experts

To benefit from BOI, your company must maintain proper bookkeeping and separate accounts for BOI and non-BOI activities. Working with a firm like Bookkeeping.co.th helps ensure that your records and tax filings match BOI requirements.

2.2 Super Deduction (200% or Enhanced Deduction)

Certain expenses that support digital transformation, innovation, or R&D may be eligible for an enhanced deduction (sometimes up to 200%) in the tax return. Common examples include:

Training costs for digital and technology skills

Software, cloud systems, and IT infrastructure used in the business

R&D expenses, including salaries of qualified R&D staff

Cybersecurity and data protection systems

The key is documentation: official tax invoices, clear descriptions, and correct accounting treatment are critical if the Revenue Department reviews your claim.

2.3 Incentives for Angel Investors

In some cases, individual investors (angel investors) who invest in certified startups may be allowed a personal income tax deduction equal to a percentage of the amount invested, subject to holding period and other conditions.

This creates a win–win structure: the startup receives capital, while the investor gains tax benefits. Founders should clearly document share subscriptions, shareholder agreements, and capitalization tables.

2.4 Reduced Withholding Tax on Certain Services

For service businesses that export services or qualify under specific rules, the withholding tax (WHT) rate applied by clients may be reduced (e.g. from 3% down to 1–2%). This directly improves monthly cashflow because less tax is withheld upfront.

2.5 Import Duty Exemptions on Machinery and Hardware

Hardware-heavy startups such as robotics, biotech, or food-tech may qualify for:

0% import duty on approved machinery

Tax incentives on related R&D and pilot plant activities

These incentives often go through BOI or specific investment promotion schemes.

3. Which Startups Typically Qualify?

While the detailed rules depend on the exact scheme, Thai startup tax incentives often focus on companies that:

Are newly incorporated (e.g. within the last 3–5 years)

Meet SME criteria on paid-up capital and annual revenue

Operate in tech, digital, or innovation sectors, or use innovative processes

Have proper accounting records and tax filings

Poor documentation, cash-only transactions, and missing tax invoices are common reasons why startups fail to receive or later lose their incentives.

4. Practical Steps to Claim Startup Tax Incentives

Review your business model. Map your activities to existing incentive schemes (BOI, digital, R&D, SME).

Set up clean accounting from day one. Use a proper accounting system and a professional firm experienced with Company PromptPay and e-tax workflows .

Gather supporting documents. Contracts, invoices, payroll records, R&D reports, and technology documentation.

Apply for BOI or relevant schemes. Prepare applications, projections, and supporting documents clearly and consistently.

File tax returns correctly. Reflect exemptions and deductions in your PND and PND.50/51 filings, with clear notes.

Maintain records for audits. Keep digital and paper copies ready in case of a Revenue Department review.

5. Example of a Simple Tax Planning Timeline

A typical high-level plan for a tech startup in Thailand might look like this:

Year 1–2: Focus on super deduction for software, training, and systems.

Year 2–4: Secure BOI promotion for core activities to enjoy tax holidays.

Year 3–5: Bring in angel investors who may also enjoy tax benefits.

Ongoing: Use e-Withholding Tax, e-Receipt, and Company PromptPay to reduce admin costs and improve cashflow.

6. Common Pitfalls Startups Should Avoid

Claiming incentives without proper supporting documents

Using non-tax invoices or unregistered suppliers for major expenses

Filing financial statements and tax returns late

Not separating BOI and non-BOI accounts when required

Ignoring tax impact when restructuring shareholding or fundraising

7. Why Work With a Professional Accounting Firm?

Startup founders should focus on product, market fit, and fundraising — not on decoding every tax rule by themselves. A professional firm that understands Thai GAAP, tax law, BOI, and SME incentives can:

Design a tax structure that fits your business model

Set up monthly bookkeeping, payroll, VAT, and withholding tax correctly

Prepare financial statements and support tax audits efficiently

Ensure you actually receive and keep the incentives you are entitled to

Tax Tip from Bookkeeping.co.th — Practical Tax Guide for Thai SMEs

What Is Company PromptPay and Why It Matters

Company PromptPay is the corporate version of Thailand’s PromptPay system. Instead of using a citizen ID or mobile number, a company links its 13-digit corporate Tax ID to its business bank account. This allows government agencies, including the Revenue Department, to transfer funds such as tax refunds directly into the company’s bank account.

For SMEs, Company PromptPay is much more than a convenience tool. It is a critical component of Thailand’s ongoing shift toward e-Tax, e-Refunds, and digital-first financial operations.

How Company PromptPay Improves the Tax Refund Process

Traditionally, tax refunds were issued via cheque or manual bank processes, which involved:

Delays in postal delivery or cheque clearing

Risk of lost cheques or incorrect delivery

Administrative mismatches when company information changed

With Company PromptPay, the process becomes simpler and far more reliable:

Your company files the PND.50 tax return.

The Revenue Department verifies the information.

The tax refund is transferred electronically using the company’s 13-digit Tax ID.

This ensures accuracy, faster processing, and fewer administrative errors.

Requirements for Companies Using Company PromptPay

To receive a tax refund through Company PromptPay, businesses should:

File the latest PND.50 (for example, FY2024)

Ensure the refund request matches the registered company name

Register a Company PromptPay account linked to the 13-digit Tax ID

Pass the Revenue Department’s basic compliance and risk checks

These requirements support a secure and efficient refund process.

How to Register for Company PromptPay

Registration is done directly with your company’s bank. You will typically need the following documents:

Bank’s Company PromptPay registration form

Company affidavit (issued within 6 months)

Copy of the company’s authorized director’s ID card

Power of attorney (if a representative submits the request)

Copy of the attorney-in-fact’s ID card

Once approved, the bank links your Tax ID to your corporate account, enabling electronic refunds.

Key Benefits for SMEs

PromptPay offers practical advantages for any business:

Faster refunds with direct bank transfer

Lower risk compared to cheque processing

Improved cash flow for day-to-day operations

Better documentation and automated record-keeping

Alignment with Thailand’s e-Tax ecosystem

Common Issues to Watch Out For

Mismatched Tax ID between the bank and Revenue Department

Outdated company affidavit or director information

Incorrect bank records after shareholder or signatory changes

No internal process for monitoring refunds and reconciliation

A quick internal check before registration can prevent delays.

The Role of Professional Advisors

Many SMEs choose to work with accounting and tax advisors who understand Thailand’s regulatory requirements. For example:

Bookkeeping.co.th provides integrated bookkeeping, tax compliance, and corporate services to help companies prepare, register, and manage Company PromptPay correctly from day one.

For companies employing foreign directors or expatriate staff, work permit and visa structure must also align with tax compliance. A dedicated advisor such as WorkPermit.co.th can ensure that immigration, employment, and tax obligations all move in the same direction.

Staying Updated on Policy Changes

While certain periods may highlight campaign timelines or refund processing cycles, the most important long-term principle is this: registering PromptPay early ensures a smoother tax refund experience.

Companies should monitor updates from:

The Thai Revenue Department

Their commercial bank

Their accounting / tax advisory firm

  <details>

  </details>

  <details>

  </details>

  <details>

  </details>

  <details>

  </details>

  <details>

  </details>

  <details>

  </details>

  <details>

  </details>

  <details>

  </details>

  <details>

  </details>

  <details>
